Clarity….Claims and Innocent Wordplay.

Had an interesting conversation with a customer about locally owned companies, years in business and business names.  This customer said a competitor of ours has been in business for almost 40 years and that really impressed him as it did me.  He remarked that my company has only been in business not quite 20 years or half as long.

I pointed out that sometimes the business name may have been around longer than the current ownership and that many businesses have local names but have out of town and out of state owners. Nothing wrong with that and that is often how businesses continue for long periods of time.  He said he thought that the 40 year claim meant that the company had been under the same ownership and management all that time. It is not always the case but I can see how the interpretation can be made.

You can rest assured that our almost 20 years have been continuous by the same ownership and management and yes, we are truly local. Claims are often innocent wordplay and not nearly as important than doing business with people who reflect your values and represent their home community.  We hope you think of us that way.
